About the Doctors

Robert S. Sears, D.D.S.

Diplomate by the American Board of Special Care Dentistry.

Dr. Robert S. Sears was raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1971. He received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 1975.

Dr. Sears completed a general practice residency at the Baltimore City Hospital in 1976, and completed his pediatric specialty training at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 1978. Dr. Sears has practiced in Northern Virginia since 1978, and is licensed by the State Boards of Dentistry in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York.

He completed his Specialty Board Certification Examinations in Pediatric Dentistry in 1988 and he successfully sat for the membership examinations in Special Needs Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004. Dr. Sears is recognized as a Diplomate by the American Board of Special Care Dentistry.

He served as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Occlusion at Georgetown University School of Dentistry from 1982 until 1986. He was appointed as a consultant to the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, in the Section of Interceptive Orthodontics and Growth and Development, serving from 1992 until 1994.

Dr. Sears currently serves on the medical staff of the Montefiore Hospital, Albert Einstein School of Medicine, in the Bronx, New York, where he conducts clinical trials of the right force bracket system, and teaches age-appropriate orthodontics to the orthodontic residents.

He is a member of the active staff at the Reston Hospital Center, in Reston, Virginia, where he has been the section chief of Oral Surgery since 1989. Dr. Sears is also on the staff of the Innova Fairfax and Innova Fair Oaks Hospitals. He is the executive vice-president of Right Force Orthodontics, Inc., where his in charge of the Clinical Research and Development program.

Dr. Sears and his family have lived in Northern Virginia since 1978. His favorite pastimes include reading and music.


Richard J. Moses III, D.M.D.

Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Moses’ interest in dentistry began in the “Sweetest Place on Earth,” Hershey, Pennsylvania. During the summer of his high school and college years, he worked as a dental assistant with his father and uncle, who are both dentists. At the beginning of his freshman year of college at the University of Pittsburgh, he confirmed his desire to pursue a career in dental medicine. As an undergraduate student at the university, he was invited to join several honor societies, received academic scholarships, and achieved the dean’s list and dean’s list with honors. Concurrently, he was an active member of his social fraternity and participated in many philanthropic activities. With his perseverance and academic achievements, he was able to complete the pre-requisites for early admission into dental school after only three years of college.

After being given the option to pursue his education at more than five other dental schools, Dr. Moses selected the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine. While attending the school, he received several honors, including the Department of Pediatric Dentistry’s Award of Distinction, an award for clinical competence, a memorial award, an academic clerkmanship and two scholarships. Dr. Sears achieved the dean’s list and the dean’s list with honors.
He was an active member in several professional societies, including the American Student Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, American Society of Dentistry for Children, Academy of General Dentistry, the Blue and Gold Ambassadors and Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. While participating in numerous volunteer activities, he also completed an anesthesiology training elective. Additionally, he was a tutor for gross and head/neck anatomy and restorative dentistry.

Dr. Moses graduated in the top of his class and continued his training at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. While in residency, he continued tutoring, remained active in various dental societies, and completed his research in sports dentistry. He also developed a passion for treating special needs children by participating in the special needs dental clinic at the dental school and the cleft palate craniofacial center. Following two years of residency, Dr. Moses obtained his certificate of advanced study in pediatric dentistry.

Currently, Dr. Moses maintains dental licensure in the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia. He has full staff privileges at the Reston Hospital Center and Apple Hill Surgical Center. He is current in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and CPR. He successfully completed the elective examinations, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He has also received a certificate in the Clinical Modification of Dentofacial Development.

Dr. Moses remains active in the community, and is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Florida Dento-Facial Study Club.

In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, sports, travel, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Moses has two younger brothers. Joe, his middle brother, has a degree from Elizabethtown College. He currently works with him while pursuing art and modeling. His youngest brother Jim is a fourth year dental student at the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry. His mother is an English, ESL, and Business teacher in Pennsylvania. His Father is a practicing dentist in Hershey, PA. We can’t forget his recent family member, Rocco, a very active Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
